Attention Citizen!
By galactic law and common sense you will now have to pay more attention to your ships as they require regular maintenance. There are a few ways to make your life easier, so pay attention!
NOTE: The Maintenance menu can be accessed through the player info menu-- look for a wrench icon!
HOW THE MAINTENANCE SYSTEM WORKS
- The maintenance cycle occurs every 30 minutes, and the Maintenance menu will display the time until the next cycle.
- The SHIP SUPPLIES ware can be bought from other factions, or produced yourself with a Ship Supplies Module, and stored at your Equipment Docks to be consumed.
- Each ship has a SUPPLY COST. The more powerful your faction is, the higher that cost. Initially, you will barely notice it, but with further development of your organization this may change.
NOTE: The SUPPLY COST of a specific ship can be seen in its encyclopedia entry.- Each sector you own has a SUPPLY LEVEL which negates the SUPPLY COST of your ships.
- You can build Equipment Docks in your owned sectors to increase the SUPPLY LEVEL of that sector up to 3 times! Each size of maintenance module, S/M, L, and XL, adds 1 to that multiplier. Multiple modules of the same size are NOT cumulative, so one is enough.
NOTE: Only one EQ dock per sector is considered, and it should not have shipbuilding functionality-- SUCH STATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED! Equipment Docks may have ware production and Administration modules, so you can combine your Ship Module production and your maintenance docks, or your defense stations and maintenance docks, or both!- If the sum of SUPPLY LEVEL from your owned sectors and EQ docks is still not enough to cover your ships cumulative SUPPLY COST, then SHIP SUPPLIES wares will be consumed randomly from all of your EQ docks across the galaxy, usually 2 wares per 1 non-covered SUPPLY COST.
NOTE: SHIP SUPPLIES can be consumed from any of your Equipment Docks, though only EQ docks in your owned sectors will increase your SUPPLY LEVEL.- If consuming SUPPLY WARES is still not enough to cover all SUPPLY COST of your ships, then you will pay in money, usually 5000 Credits per 1 non-covered SUPPLY COST.
Failing to pay the maintenance of your ships, which includes wages to your hired crewmen, will lead to decreased morale of those crewmen.
With v0.80 comes a maintenance system for your fleets. While it may seem scary, there are plenty of ways to make it easier to handle.
The Maintenance System will not kick in until you have 150 million credits in assets. Handy! You can build up some infrastructure to make sure you are ready for the next step.
At the top will be your faction level (and type), your total assets, and the time until the next maintenance cycle. Your maintenance multiplier will change based on the size of your faction-- at the start the multiplier is .333, but at maximum size the multiplier is 2x. Be prepared for your maintenance costs to increase as you grow!
Your Supply Cost will be broken down by ship size, then collected together and multiplied by your maintenance multiplier. This should help you gauge where the majority of your costs are coming from.
Owning sectors will raise your Supply Level, which negates a certain amount of Supply Cost. Some sectors will have different Supply Levels.
Creating Equipment Docks in sectors you own will further increase your Supply Level. These Equipment Docks must include a Maintenance module of the three sizes (S/M, L, or XL) but cannot include shipbuilding modules. Equipment Docks can also include Administration Modules or production modules, so feel free to use an EQ dock to claim a sector and increase the Supply Level at the same time!
PLEASE NOTE: Although you can have Production Modules on your Equipment Dock (ie. Energy Cells, Silicon Wafers, etc.), placing any Ship Building Module (ie. Wharf, Shipyard) will negate the Equipment Dock benefits, effectively canceling out any supplies counted towards your Maintenance cost
Once your Supply Cost and Supply Level have canceled each other out, the remainder will be paid with Ship Supplies stored at your Equipment Docks. It costs 2 Ship Supplies to pay for 1 Supply Cost-- For instance, it will cost 1 unit of Ship Supplies to pay for one basic TIE Fighter, but 300 to pay for one Imperial-II Star Destroyer.
If you do not have enough Ship Supplies to pay your Supply Cost, the remainder will be paid with Credits. It costs 5,000 credits to cover 1 Supply Cost. While this sounds cheap, it can quickly grow if you are not prepared for it-- a single Imperial-II Star Destroyer can cost up to 2.8 million an hour if you can't cover its Supply Cost!
If you cannot cover the Supply Cost with Ship Supplies OR credits, the morale stat for your ship crews will suffer. This will affect every action they take.
Each ship's entry in the Encyclopedia will show its supply cost, so you can plan out your fleets and fighter wings beforehand. The Supply Cost is included in the Ships and Equipment Vendor Sheet, so you can more easily compare your favorites!
The Ship Supplies modules produce 360 Ship Supplies per hour-- enough to supply 90 Supply Cost worth of ships at full Empire size. To maximize production with 10 Ship Supplies Modules (Before accounting for Workforce bonuses and consumption), you will require:
For maximum Workforce efficiency on 10 Ship Supplies Modules you will need:
No additional Food Ration or Medical Supplies will be necessary, the station will feed itself!
